UGGs: Is it Truly the End of an Era?

November 4, 2012

Word on the street is that the UGG trend has died….and has been reincarnated about 15 times, once every year. UGGs are the zombie’s of shoe fashion. They just never seem to die no matter what you do.  And its no wonder why, its difficult to destroy comfy-cozy in the middle of the cold seasons.

Regardless of what you have to say about them, Love ’em or Hate ’em,  UGG sales are down 31% and the company plans on slashing prices to compensate for the lack of boot sales (the boots start around $135 and are up to $200 for some styles).

Despite the company’s efforts to keep sales up by branching out to coats, slippers and hiring Tom Brady as a spokesperson for UGGs (which increased men’s footwear sales) the increase is just not big enough.

While we all have come to terms that UGGs would just hang on like the living dead that they are, we may have to face the fact that the end of an era may be rather close.

What do you think? Can the UGG zombie boot stay alive a bit longer or has the end come for the cozy lambskin boot?
